Rooftop solar is a common target, because the gap underneath is sheltered from wind and snow and hidden from predators. Our approach is clean-up followed by prevention. First we remove nests, debris and droppings from the affected areas, bag it, and clean and sanitize the surfaces. Then we install deterrents and exclusion suited to the spot, such as mesh guards around the edges of a solar array that block access underneath. The goal is humane prevention, keeping birds out of problem areas rather than harming them, so the fix lasts instead of requiring repeat clean-ups. Acting early helps. The longer birds use a spot, the more attached they get, and the more droppings and nesting material collect on roofs, in gutters and under panels. Since many owners only come up on weekends or in summer, it’s worth checking under the panels and along the eaves each time you arrive.
