Brighter porch and path lights in Hanford

Summer nights in Hanford stay warm, and every moth, beetle and gnat in the neighborhood seems to find the porch light. With irrigated fields and dairies nearby, there’s no shortage of them. Plenty work their way inside the fixture and never make it out, and spiders follow close behind to build webs around the housing. Add the dust that blows through on breezy days and the mineral spray from sprinklers on low path lights, and the glass slowly goes cloudy. You may not notice during the day. At night, the light looks dim, yellow and speckled with bugs.

Our cleaning is careful and hands-on. Where a fixture is designed to open safely, we remove the glass or cover, clear out bugs, webs and debris, and clean the glass and housing inside and out. Sealed fixtures and fragile older lanterns are cleaned gently from the outside. Landscape and path lights get their lenses wiped, and we pull back mulch, soil or leaves that have crept over them. If we spot a fixture that’s already cracked or loose, we point it out before we touch it. Then everything goes back together the way we found it, just cleaner.

Light cleaning is an easy add-on to a window cleaning or house wash, so the whole front of your home looks fresh at the same time. Businesses benefit too: storefront lights, sign lighting, walkway lights and wall packs around Hanford’s shopping centers all collect bugs and grime. Once or twice a year is plenty for most homes, with fixtures near doors and pools needing more attention in summer.
